Late at night on November 22, 2020, just before midnight, the container vessel m/v 'Tina 1' (IMO: 9267156) met with a mishap while navigating through the Strait of Singapore. After departing from Pasir Panjang-Terminal in Singapore at 11 p.m. bound for Jakarta, the 'Tina 1' collided with the stern of the grounded vessel 'Shahraz'. The accident occurred at coordinates 01° 11.21' N, 103° 52.82' E, leaving the 'Tina 1' precariously tilted to its port side and stuck in the same position. The 'Shahraz', which had been grounded since May 10 during its journey from Port Klang to Yangshan, remains a significant obstacle in the busy waters south of St. John Island. In response to the incident, the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation dispatched two patrol boats to the location for oversight and security measures. As of August 11, the cargo vessel 'Shahraz' remains grounded at coordinates 01°11’15.05” N, 103°52’51.02” E. Lightering operations are actively taking place with the assistance of tugs 'Qsa 79' and 'SM XXI', as well as 'Sse Alexandria' and 'Sse Natalie', which have been dispatched to the site along with cranes and barges. Efforts to lighten the load have progressed, with the deck cargo already removed. The ship currently exhibits a slight list to its port side and is positioned deep in the water.
