On January 13, 2026, four oil tankers managed by Greek companies reportedly fell victim to drone attacks in proximity to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium's Yuzhnaya Ozereyevka terminal, located near Novorossiysk in the Black Sea. The vessels involved in this alarming incident included the 'Delta Harmony' (IMO: 9408463), which was preparing to load oil from Tengizchevroil when a minor fire broke out but was swiftly extinguished. Subsequently, it anchored at position 40° 36' N, 027° 07 E in the Sea of Marmara. During its wait to load crude oil at the CPC terminal in Novorossiysk, the 'Freud' experienced a drone strike that led to limited damage. Following this event, the tanker departed Russian territorial waters, heading towards the Eastern Mediterranean with an expected arrival in Trieste on January 20. The vessel was laden with CPC Blend, a crucial mixture of predominantly Kazakh crude oil utilized for the Transalpine pipeline from the Siot terminal. The management of the 'Matilda', Thenamaris, confirmed the drone attack incident while the vessel was stationed at the Novorossiysk roads. Authorities were promptly notified, and fortunately, all crew members reported safe with no injuries. Initial assessments suggested only minor damage to the vessel's deck, with no pollution issues, confirming the tanker remained in operational condition. The management team has maintained communication with the ship's Master, as well as with all relevant authorities. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium's offshore terminal at Novorossiysk is a pivotal infrastructure handling over 1% of the world's oil supply and around 80% of Kazakhstan's oil exports. The CPC is tasked with transporting crude oil from western Kazakhstan to this terminal, subsequently loading it onto tankers bound for global markets. This recent drone assault follows earlier disruptions that saw one of the three single-point moorings at the terminal taken out of service due to an earlier strike in early December.
