The Port of Corpus Christi made headlines as it welcomed the Anne, a remarkable Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) that marks a milestone as the first of its kind to berth at a Gulf Coast port. On Friday, the 1,000-foot vessel docked at the Occidental Petroleum terminal in Ingleside, just a stone's throw from Corpus Christi. This flagship vessel is one of the largest on the planet and holds the capacity to transport over 2 million barrels of oil. However, due to the Port's 46-foot-deep ship channel, the Anne could not depart completely loaded. To navigate this challenge, Occidental Petroleum strategically loaded the vessel at port and completed its filling in deeper waters. The ship's arrival was initially delayed due to severe storms that swept through the Gulf region earlier this week, but it has now successfully commenced operations.
