On June 4, 2021, at 3:20 PM, the tugboat 'Bocas del Toro' encountered an engine failure while aiding the 'Gaschem Narwhal' in the Miraflores locks of the Panama Canal, located at coordinates 009°00'24"N, 079°35'48"W, approximately 3.7 miles from Balboa. As a bow tug, 'Bocas del Toro' played a crucial role in this operation. Fortunately, the Panama Canal Authority promptly initiated an investigation into the incident, which thankfully did not disrupt canal operations. Thanks to the captain's skillful handling and the support from the stern tug, the situation was swiftly managed, allowing for a safe and incident-free resolution.
