The Gennadiy-Abramov: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On August 5, 2023, the cargo vessel 'Gennadiy Abramov', sailing from Cherepovets to St. Petersburg, encountered a grounding incident while navigating the Sheksna Reservoir. The vessel was carrying a substantial load of 3,000 tonnes of pig iron and had 10 crew members aboard at that time. The grounding occurred at coordinates 59°40'47" N, 038°26'06" E, along the Volga-Baltic Waterway. Fortunately, there were no damages reported to the vessel and no casualties among the crew. A swift response came from the Russian-flagged tug 'Andriy Golubkov', which assisted in refloating the vessel. Following a thorough inspection by the North-Western Transport Prosecutor's Office, 'Gennadiy Abramov' was deemed fit to resume its journey towards St. Petersburg.

In the early hours of July 3, 2018, the cargo vessel 'Gennadiy Abramov' experienced a series of unfortunate allisions while navigating the Neva River in St. Petersburg. At precisely 4:20 a.m., the ship collided with the helicopter pad atop the passenger terminal located at kilometer mark 1384, near the English Embankment. This incident resulted in significant damage to both the terminal and the vessel, which suffered torn railings and a noticeable two-meter-long dent on its starboard side. Continuing its journey downstream, the 'Gennadiy Abramov' struck the left pier of the Blagoveschenskiy Bridge, incurring further damage with a dented bulwark and issues with its portside bridge wing. The ship had departed from Cherepovets, transporting a cargo of steel, before ultimately berthing at Bol´shaya Neva in St. Petersburg.
