On September 13, 2023, a crew member of the tanker 'Ghibli' was successfully rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard after falling overboard approximately 10 miles off the coast of Galveston, Texas. The distress signal was received by watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center via VHF-FM channel 16 at 9:23 a.m., indicating that the individual was in peril and not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.
