Gloaria G Faces Engine Issues Near Akbaş, Tugs Come to the Rescue

Jun 02, 2024 17:57

In an operational incident on the night of June 1, 2024, the freighter 'Gloaria G', carrying a substantial load of 66,000 tons of corn, encountered an unexpected engine failure while navigating the busy waters off Akbaş during its journey from Yuzhny to Port Said. The incident occurred during the ship's passage through the Dardanelles, a critical maritime route. Fortunately, the Çanakkale Vessel Traffic Services Center promptly coordinated a response. Tugs 'Kurtarma 13', 'Kurtarma 14', and 'Kurtarma 16' were dispatched to assist the stricken vessel. Their skilled efforts resulted in the 'Gloaria G' being safely towed and secured at the Şevketiye Anchorage, located at coordinates 40° 25.17' N 026° 49.74' E. This successful operation showcases the importance of swift maritime response in ensuring safety at sea. Ukrainian Black Sea Exports Resume with Four Ships Departing Odesa Ports

Oct 28, 2023 20:38

On October 27, 2023, a total of four vessels successfully departed from Ukraine's Black Sea ports located in the Odesa region, marking a significant resumption of maritime activity through a newly established export corridor after a brief three-day pause. The ships, named 'Propus', 'Iasos', 'Gloria G', and 'Manassa Queen', set sail from Odesa ports, while other vessels including the tanker 'Mavka', the bulk carrier 'Golden Arrow', and the cargo m/v 'Maranta' were en route to Ukrainian ports. A report released on October 26 by the Kyiv-based consultancy Barva Invest, along with British security firm Ambrey and Ukrainian Ports, indicated that Ukraine had briefly halted the corridor due to potential threats posed by Russian warplanes and naval mines. However, Ukrainian officials refuted this claim, with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy affirming on October 27 that the export corridor would remain operational despite the escalating threats. This corridor is crucial for Ukraine's efforts to reignite its maritime export activities, especially after Russia's withdrawal from the UN-mediated agreement in July, which previously permitted the exportation of essential food supplies amidst ongoing conflict. As of October 26, 23 vessels were actively loading cargo at the Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi ports. In total, 51 ships have utilized this corridor, exporting over 1.3 million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products and various other goods.

Navios Maritime Partners L.P. Welcomes 'Navios Symmetry' into Fleet

May 24, 2018 13:37

On May 23, 2018, Navios Maritime Partners L.P. proudly announced the acquisition of the 'Navios Symmetry' vessel, which was officially delivered on May 21. This strategic addition to the fleet came at a purchase price of $11.0 million. The 'Navios Symmetry' is set to earn a competitive charter rate of $9,375 per day until July 2018. Under the current charter agreement and prevailing market conditions, including Clarksons’ one-year time charter rate for panamax vessels as of May 18, 2018, the ship is projected to deliver approximately $2.5 million in EBITDA during its first year. This estimate assumes maximum re-delivery time from charterers, alongside operating expenses in line with current costs and a full revenue and cost schedule. The acquisition is financially supported by a combination of cash reserves and a $7.15 million bank loan, which is due in 2023 and incurs an interest rate of LIBOR plus 300 basis points annually.
