On September 20, 2024, the port city of Odesa witnessed a devastating Russian missile attack that left the civilian ship 'Golden Lion' partially damaged. The assault resulted in injuries to four individuals and caused significant destruction to the port infrastructure and nearby civilian structures. Investigators later identified remnants of what is believed to be an 'Iskander-M missile' among the debris. The 'Golden Lion', which had just arrived from Varna carrying a cargo of metal products, was slated to continue its journey to Sulina.

In the early hours of October 20, 2011, at approximately 03:30 local time, the cargo vessel m/v Volodymyr Bondar encountered trouble as it was entering Temryuk port, located in the Azov Sea. Despite having a pilot on board during its navigation, the vessel ran aground. Fortunately, the situation was swiftly addressed as a port tug was deployed to assist, successfully refloating the ship soon after the incident. Fortunately, there were no reported damages from the grounding event, ensuring the safety of both the vessel and its crew.
