The Grampian-Talisker: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

The 'Greampian Talisker,' which had been docked at Telford Dock in Aberdeen for essential fire damage repairs, successfully departed on May 16. Her next destination is the Rough Field, and as of May 26, the vessel has arrived and is currently anchored at Immingham, positioned at coordinates 53° 50.07' N and 000° 26.89' E.

On May 9, 2019, the Grampian Talisker experienced a fire incident in its engine room, occurring approximately 20 miles east southeast of Flamborough Head. The crew, consisting of 14 members, quickly took action by anchoring the vessel and conducting an internal investigation to extinguish the flames. In response to the emergency, Humber Coastguard dispatched the RNLI lifeboat from Bridlington for support, ensuring the safety of the vessel and monitoring the situation closely to prevent any chance of reignition. The lifeboat remained on standby until it was confirmed that the fire threat had been eliminated. Following the incident, the Grampian Talisker managed to operate one engine and moved to a temporary anchorage at coordinates 54 00 24 N, 000 01 12 E. By 12:15 p.m., the second engine was restored to operational status, prompting the ship to prepare for repairs. Ultimately, the Grampian Talisker arrived at Telford Dock in Aberdeen on May 12 at 11 p.m. Upon further inspections, it was determined that while there had been no fire damage, excessive smoke had resulted from overheating in the port side shaft generator bearing.
