Disabled Cargo Vessel 'Granit' Rescued and Towed to Busan Port
On July 17, 2019, at approximately 6 a.m., the cargo ship 'Granit' encountered a critical engine failure while navigating 16 miles off the coast of Ulsan. The vessel, which was transporting 1,436 tons of general cargo, was on its way from Busan to Vladivostok when the incident occurred. A Korean tugboat arrived on the scene at 1 p.m. and successfully took the disabled ship in tow, guiding it back to Busan. The 'Granit' docked at the Busan port at 4:20 a.m. on July 18. After repairs and necessary inspections, the cargo ship set sail again in the early hours of August 28, resuming its journey to Vladivostok with an estimated time of arrival set for August 31.
