Working Conditions Aboard the Grip-Antarctic

On June 12, 2010, at 11 p.m., the vessel 'Rune Viking' (IMO 9167954) experienced a significant incident while navigating the waters near Fleskleia, located between Myre and Stø. The ship sustained a breach in one of its bunker tanks after making contact with the seabed. In response to the emergency, the rescue boat 'Knut Hoem' was dispatched from Myre. Despite the damage, the 'Rune Viking' managed to navigate under its own power to a secure anchorage in the sheltered Gavelfjord. Upon arrival, the crew aboard 'Knut Hoem' pinpointed the breach in the foreship on the port side and temporarily sealed it to prevent further issues. Following these urgent measures, the vessel was granted permission to enter Svolvaer, where it would undergo permanent repairs to ensure its seaworthiness.
