In the early hours of December 9, 2025, a significant incident took place at the SPQ pier in Quellón, when a crankshaft explosion erupted in the main engine compartment of the wellboat 'Grip Superior'. The explosion, occurring at approximately 2:25 a.m., left two crew members injured. Swift action from the Harbour Police ensured that the injured were provided with immediate first aid before being transported to the Quellón hospital by SAMU personnel for further medical attention. In response to this serious incident, an investigation has been initiated by the appropriate authorities to determine the cause of the explosion.
