Ark Futura Takes Over After Fire Incident on Hafnia Seaways

Oct 20, 2011 21:45

On the afternoon of October 20, DFDS revealed the results of investigations regarding the cargo involved in the recent fire on the Hafnia Seaways. Fortunately, studies confirmed that the fire, which ignited on October 19 at 7 p.m., did not damage any of the goods on board. In response to the situation, DFDS promptly dispatched the Ark Futura, another of their ro/ro ships, from its location at Luebberrt Quay in Cuxhaven, to transfer the cargo from the affected vessel. The timeline for the reinstatement of Hafnia Seaways into service remains uncertain, as crew members initiated investigative procedures aboard the ship once the damaged area was sufficiently cooled and properly ventilated. Updates are expected as investigations continue.
