In a significant operation, the Norwegian Coastguard, aboard the vessel Skandi Skolten, has successfully surveyed the diesel storage tanks of the submerged German submarine U 864. During this mission, they managed to extract approximately 1,000 liters of fuel from one of the submarine's three tanks. Unfortunately, the remaining tanks were discovered to be punctured and empty, a consequence of years of corrosion. The Skandi Skolten's operation concluded with a thorough inspection of the submarine’s steel plates, accompanied by necessary welding repairs.
