Working Conditions Aboard the Hana-H

On January 15, 2026, the vessel 'Hana H' faced detention in Rijeka following the discovery of multiple safety deficiencies, with eight identified as serious enough to warrant such action. The following issues were noted: 1) The vessel's certification and documentation did not comply with the required minimum safe manning document; 2) The emergency fire pump and its associated piping were not found to be compliant; 3) The emergency generator was inoperative, compromising the emergency source of power; 4) There was a notable lack of training during fire drills; 5) Lifeboats were deemed unready for use; 6) The remote means of control for the machinery spaces were non-operational; 7) The sewage treatment plant did not meet required standards; and 8) The International Safety Management (ISM) certificate was not up to regulations. Following improvements, the 'Hana H' was released from detention on January 22 and has since remained anchored off the port.
