What Crew Members Say About Havila-Pollux

In a recent announcement, Tersan shipyard revealed that the earthquake that struck on February 14, 2023, will cause further delays in the delivery of the 'Havila Pollux'. This vessel is part of Havila's commitment to the Norwegian government for regular coastal services running from Bergen to Kirkenes. Previously, the company's attempts to launch four ships for the 12-day roundtrip were hindered by contract disputes with their initial shipyard, as well as delays caused by the pandemic. The situation was further complicated by sanctions against Russian financial entities. Initially, Havila had partnered with the prominent Russian firm GTLK for the construction and long-term charter of these cruise ships. Meanwhile, many workers from the Tersan shipyard, along with crew members of the 'Havila Pollux', have been deployed to support relief efforts in the earthquake-affected areas. The shipyard has now revised the delivery timeline, aiming for the end of April 2023. In a bid to prepare for the influx of summer travelers, Havila has set the maiden voyage for May 27, 2023 as they strive to achieve full operational capacity.
