PortMiami has officially announced an enhancement to its towing and harbor ship services aimed at improving the berthing and departure of container cargo vessels. This upgrade comes with the introduction of the HAWK, a state-of-the-art tractor tug from Seabulk Towing. Equipped with a formidable Z-drive thrust unit, the HAWK boasts an impressive 80-ton bollard pull and a powerful engine rated at 6,700 horsepower. Seabulk Towing, operating under the umbrella of SEACOR Holdings Inc. (NYSE: CKH) from its corporate offices in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has been a reliable name in the towing industry for nearly 60 years, providing expert services across various ports along the Gulf Coast and southeastern United States. The addition of the HAWK strengthens the existing towing operations at PortMiami, which are currently supported by Moran Towing Corporation. Moran’s fleet includes the DIANE MORAN and GRAMMA LEE T. MORAN, both offering 5,100 horsepower and 65-ton bollard pull, along with the FORT BRAGG MORAN, featuring a 4,400 horsepower capacity and a 60-ton bollard pull. This expansion is set to significantly enhance the operational capabilities at PortMiami.
