On January 15, the freighter Cheng Lu 28 collided with a small fishing vessel in the Hainan Strait, resulting in the fishing boat sinking. The incident occurred while five fishermen were on board, prompting them to abandon ship. Fortunately, two of the fishermen were rescued by the Cheng Lu 28, while three remain unaccounted for as search and rescue operations are currently underway. The Cheng Lu 28, which is traversing from Vietnam to Korea, has been directed to dock at the nearest port. By the evening of January 15, the vessel was secured in Haikou, Hainan.
