Search Underway After Fishing Vessel Collision Leaves Two Missing
In a concerning maritime incident on the morning of December 14, 2021, the 'Heng Yu', a vessel traveling from Gwanyang, Yeosu, to Nanjing, was involved in a critical collision with the 129-ton Korean fishing boat '153 Hye Seung'. This unfortunate event occurred approximately 50 nautical miles southwest of Yeosu in the East China Sea. Following the impact, the fishing vessel sank, prompting immediate rescue efforts by the Coast Guard. Out of the 27 fishermen aboard the '153 Hye Seung', 25 were successfully rescued, while two individuals remain unaccounted for as search and rescue operations continue. Meanwhile, the 'Heng Yu' was reported to be adrift in the vicinity of the collision site.
