Hillegersberg Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On February 11, 2020, at approximately 7 p.m., a cargo ship pushing barges collided with two other vessels—the tank barge 'Hillegersberg' (IMO: 02327025, 3229 ts) and the 'Zeeland' (IMO: 02205703, 2578 ts)—at the Maas lock close to Sambeek. The incident resulted in damage to all three vessels, with one ship sustaining a significant crack above the waterline; however, no water ingress was reported. Investigations are ongoing to determine if a technical malfunction was responsible for the collision. Emergency services were dispatched promptly, and the fire brigade assessed the situation, concluding there was no threat to the surrounding environment. All three ships were empty during the incident, preventing any cargo leaks. Unfortunately, one crew member was injured after falling on deck due to the impact and received medical evaluation from an ambulance crew on site. Although divers were initially called to the scene following the initial report, their services were not required as no additional individuals were reported missing. By 8:30 p.m., the fire brigade concluded their operations, handing over the investigation to the police and Rijkswaterstaat for further action. Both the 'Zeeland' and 'Hillegersberg' resumed their journey towards Lixhe on February 12.
