Greenpeace Takes Action Against Soy Imports in Brake
On August 4, 2019, a bold protest unfolded in Brake as Greenpeace activists demonstrated against the importation of soy food. Utilizing an impressive array of equipment, including 19 rubber boats, a paraglider, and a drone, the activists intercept the cargo vessel "Hiroshima Star" during its journey from Aratu. In the early hours of the morning, they made their presence known by adorning the ship with the phrase "Climate Crime" painted on its hull, while also attaching a banner to a cargo crane. The local police dispatched special teams to disband the protest, successfully removing 19 activists from the crane. The entire operation concluded at 5:30 p.m. For German-language reports featuring images of the protest, check out the following links: [NDR](https://www.ndr.de/nachrichten/niedersachsen/oldenburg_ostfriesland/Brake-Greenpeace-bemalt-aus-Protest-Soja-Frachter,greenpeace560.html), [Weser Kurier](https://www.weser-kurier.de/deutschland-welt/deutschland-welt-politik_artikel,-warum-umweltaktivisten-gegen-den-import-von-soja-protestieren-_arid,1850023.html), and [NWZ Online](https://www.nwzonline.de/brake/brake-gegen-soja-importe-greenpeace-aktivisten-protestieren-in-brake_a_50,5,1993091854.html).
