Hanjin Heavy Industries Celebrates Delivery of Two 11,000 TEU Container Vessels
In a significant achievement for the global shipbuilding sector, Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction – Philippines (HHIC-Phil Inc.) proudly announced the successful delivery of two impressive 11,000 TEU container vessels, M/V 'HMM BLESSING' and M/V 'HMM PROMISE', on June 26 and June 30, 2023, respectively. This milestone signals a gradual recovery in the shipbuilding industry following several years of downturn. The vessels, commissioned by a European ship owner, have been handed over to Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), the largest shipping company in South Korea by container capacity. Constructed with the latest advancements in maritime technology, both vessels feature state-of-the-art SOX scrubber systems, ensuring compliance with international environmental regulations set forth by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The ships, powered by MAN-B&W 8G95ME-C9.5 engines, boast impressive dimensions of 317.33 meters in length, 48.20 meters in width, and 22.94 meters in depth. To enhance their cargo capacity, M/V 'HMM BLESSING' and M/V 'HMM PROMISE' have undergone expert retrofitting, including the addition of external lashing bridges which enable the accommodation of more 40-foot containers through the innovative 'mickey mouse system' developed by HHIC-Phil Inc. This enhancement maximizes the vessels' operational efficiency, paving the way for sustainable profitability in the long run. Since commencing operations in 2008, HHIC-Phil Inc. has established a strong reputation in the competitive shipbuilding arena, successfully delivering a total of 119 vessels to clients worldwide. This latest delivery reinforces the company's commitment to excellence in maritime engineering.
