Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction – Philippines (HHIC-Phil Inc.), located in Subic, has made a significant mark in the shipbuilding sector by delivering two impressive 11,000 TEU container vessels. The recent handover of the ships, M/V ‘HMM BLESSING’ and M/V ‘HMM PROMISE’, occurred on June 26 and June 30, 2023, respectively. This achievement comes at a time when the global shipbuilding industry is showing signs of recovery from a prolonged downturn, as highlighted in the company's recent press release. Originally commissioned by a European ship owner, both vessels have been transferred to Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), the leading container shipping firm in South Korea. These state-of-the-art ships incorporate the latest advancements in marine engineering, boasting an innovative SOX scrubber system that significantly mitigates sulfur emissions, thus ensuring compliance with the stringent environmental regulations set forth by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Measuring an impressive 317.33 meters in length, 48.20 meters in width, and 22.94 meters in depth, the ships are powered by MAN-B&W 8G95ME-C9.5 engines, designed for optimal performance. Additionally, the vessels feature specialized external lashing bridges, enhancing their standard capacity and enabling the safe transport of more 40-foot containers through HHIC-Phil Inc.'s advanced ‘mickey mouse system’. This innovative approach allows for maximal utilization of the ships' capacities, fostering sustainability and long-term profitability. Since commencing its operations in 2008, HHIC-Phil Inc. has successfully delivered 119 vessels to esteemed clients worldwide, strengthening its competitive edge in the global shipbuilding arena.
