On June 30, 2025, the vessel 'Horus' faced detention in Kocaeli due to a total of 21 deficiencies, with two serious issues leading to the detention: the inoperative alarm for the steering gear and inadequately maintained weathertight doors. Following these inspections, the ship was cleared for departure on July 3, setting its course to Durres, with an expected time of arrival on July 8. Pirates Strike Near Bioko Island: Crew Members Taken Hostage
In a distressing incident on May 9, 2020, the cargo vessel 'Rio Mitong' faced a pirate attack at approximately 2 a.m. while anchored in Malabo, close to Bioko Island in the Gulf of Guinea. During this brazen assault, two crew members, reportedly of Russian and Ukrainian descent, were abducted by the armed perpetrators. Thankfully, the remainder of the crew was unharmed. Following the attack, the 'Rio Mitong' successfully navigated to Malabo Port, where it docked at 8 a.m.
