In a remarkable maritime incident, the containership "Hyundai Faith" arrived at the Port of Rotterdam on August 30, 2011, carrying an unexpected stowaway: the carcass of a deceased whale lodged on its bulbous bow. Shortly after the vessel docked, the patrol boat "RPA 11" facilitated the situation by maneuvering the whale's remains against the quay at the DDE/DDW Container Terminal Amazonport, specifically at berth No. 8153 within Europoort. Preliminary observations suggest that the whale might be an adult orca, although this identification has yet to be verified by marine experts. A dedicated team from Naturalis in Leiden is currently overseeing the recovery process, with plans for the whale's remains to potentially be transported to the Naturalis Museum for further examination and preservation.
