In a significant move to bolster its grain exports, Ukraine is sending five bulk carriers—'Olga', 'Ida', 'Danny Boy', 'Forza Doria', and 'New Legacy'—to its Black Sea ports for loading. These vessels are expected to transport a total of 120,000 tons of grain destined for Africa and Europe. The loading will take place at the major ports surrounding Odesa, specifically Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi. This operation occurs under the shadow of ongoing tensions, as Ukraine works to navigate the Russian blockade that has impeded commodity exports. As a result, grain shipments have seen a dramatic decrease, with outbound exports plummeting to 1.75 million tons in September, down from 3 million tons in August. Meanwhile, three other vessels—'Azara', 'Ying Hao 01', and 'Eneida'—have successfully departed from Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi, carrying over 127,000 tons of agricultural products and iron ore as they head southwest.
