Working Conditions Aboard the Ida-Rambow

On February 12, 2020, the freighter 'Ida Rambow' experienced a significant incident while navigating the North Sea near Bremerhaven. Strong gusts associated with Storm Ciara led to three containers becoming dislodged from the upper deck as the vessel was making its way from Hamburg. At approximately 2 p.m., just before entering the Weser Sea Shipping Route, the 'Ida Rambow' encountered wind speeds of force 8 and gusts reaching 11 from the west, resulting in the containers rolling but thankfully remaining on the ship's deck rather than falling overboard. Authorities were promptly notified, and it was confirmed that there was no threat to maritime traffic or the surrounding environment. The ship was temporarily held in Bremerhaven until the unsecured containers, which did not contain hazardous materials, were safely unloaded. Following this operation, the 'Ida Rambow' resumed its journey at 4 a.m. on February 13, making its way to Copenhagen, where it docked at 6:20 a.m. on February 14.
