Desperate Search Continues for Missing Third Officer from 'TS Japan'
On October 31, 2011, a tragic incident unfolded in the South China Sea when an Indian third officer aboard the 'TS Japan' went missing near Hong Kong. The vessel had recently departed from Shekou Port in China and was en route to Laem Chabang Port in Thailand. Despite concerted efforts by the Hong Kong coast guard, which employed aircraft and various ships in the search operation, the missing crew member has yet to be located. The officer, hailing from Manacaradu, had only been on board for a brief period of 15 days. His last duty shift ended at 4 p.m. on October 31, and he was slated to resume work at 8 p.m., prompting concerns when he did not report back. Following the incident, the 'TS Japan' successfully arrived in Bangkok on November 5, but hopes dim for the return of the missing sailor as search efforts continue.
