Working Conditions Aboard the Interasia-Pursuit

On May 23, 2024, the 'Interasia Pursuit,' a cargo ship, collided with the container barge 'SP-ITC 01' (MMSI: 57740091) on the Dong Nai River, leading to the unfortunate loss of nine containers. The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m., shortly after the 'Interasia Pursuit' departed from the SP-ITC International Container Terminal in Ho Chi Minh City's Thu Duc City, en route to Port Klang. At the time, the barge was making its way to the terminal carrying 63 containers when the impact occurred amidst heavy rains and strong winds. While the barge sustained damage to its port side hull, the 'Interasia Pursuit' emerged from the incident without any structural damage. Emergency response teams from the Ho Chi Minh City Coast Guard swiftly arrived at the scene, deploying boats and canoes for recovery operations. Eight of the nine misplaced containers were successfully retrieved from the river; however, one was believed to have sunk following a breach.
