On the morning of December 10, the cargo vessel 'Irma S' found itself aground in the Preveza waters, impacted by fierce winds that caused the anchor to drag. The ship was carrying a crew of 21, including 19 Filipinos, one Kazakh, and one Romanian national, at the time of the incident. Having departed from Arroyo Seco on December 14 with a full load of soy flour, the 'Irma S' faced significant challenges due to the adverse weather conditions. In response to the situation, the Greek Coast Guard promptly dispatched a patrol boat along with a tug to assist in the refloating efforts. After the weather improved, the vessel was successfully refloated and subsequently made its way to Thessaloniki, where it docked at 7:40 a.m. on December 28.
