The Jade: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On the morning of September 3, 2025, the cargo vessel 'Jade' experienced an unfortunate grounding incident near the bridge at Sas van Gent while en route from Bilbao to Ghent. In response to the situation, three tugs were swiftly dispatched to assist with the refloating operation. The 'Hendrik 7' and 'Hendrik 9' from Aerde Towing Service in Sas van Gent, along with the 'Multratug 9' from Multraship based in Terneuzen, worked diligently to release the vessel from its predicament. Thankfully, no damage was reported from the incident. After successfully refloating the 'Jade', two of the tugs proceeded to tow the ship to the port of Ghent. On January 31, 2018, the freighter 'Jade' encountered mechanical issues due to main engine piston failures while navigating from Kaliningrad to Foynes. At midnight, the vessel found itself adrift at a speed of 1.6 knots, located approximately 11 nautical miles southeast of St. Catherine's Point, with coordinates 50 24 53.0N, 001 07 39.8W. The crew, consisting of six members, worked diligently to replace the malfunctioning piston, and repairs were projected to be finished by 1:34 a.m. At the time of the incident, the 'Jade' was transporting 2,975 metric tons of bulk soya, along with 70 cubic meters of gas oil and two cubic meters of lube oil. Fortunately, the crew managed the repairs without requiring tug assistance, enabling the vessel to resume its voyage once the engine issues were resolved.
