Tanker Incident Disrupts Operations at Wassana Oilfield
On April 4, 2023, Valeura Energy reported damage to the mooring systems of the Wassana oilfield redevelopment located in the Gulf of Thailand. This incident occurred when the tanker 'Jaka Tarub' collided with the catenary anchor leg mooring (CALM) buoy on March 26, resulting in damage to critical offloading equipment. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and since production had not commenced, there was no fluid discharge associated with the incident. Valeura Energy is actively working with the Department of Mineral Fuels, Thailand's upstream regulatory body, to facilitate a safe resumption of production operations. The 'Jaka Tarub' was scheduled to berth at Laem Chabang on April 5.
