On April 14, 2011, officers from HMS Severn conducted routine checks and found discrepancies during their investigation at sea. The findings revealed that the mesh size of the port side net measured 103.2 mm and the starboard side net measured 104.5 mm, despite the logbook indicating a mesh size of 120 mm. According to regulations, any mesh size under 120 mm must include square mesh panels to promote conservation, an essential requirement that was not met in this instance. As a result of these violations, the vessel's owner was fined £5,500 and was also instructed to cover investigation and court costs totaling £3,450.
