Having departed from St. Petersburg on May 16 at 9 p.m., the Njord was en route to Rotterdam, with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) set for May 20. Initial attempts to refloat the vessel using its own means proved unsuccessful. However, by the afternoon of the same day, the Njord managed to float free and subsequently resumed its journey to Rotterdam, now with a revised ETA of May 21, cruising at a speed of 14 knots.
