The Katariina: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On April 12, 2013, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) detained a vessel in Hull due to suspicions of cargo shift occurring during loading operations. The inspection revealed uncertainty regarding whether the cargo was adequately stowed and secured for its journey. Several additional deficiencies were discovered, including an unlabelled remote fuel shut-off valve for the emergency generator, and a critical A-60 fire door that was found secured in an open position. Further issues included an oil leak from the thermal oil pipe flange and CPP header tank pipe, a non-functional searchlight on the rescue boat, and a liferaft painter on the port that was not appropriately secured to the weak link of the hydrostatic release unit (HRU). Following the resolution of these issues, the vessel was released on April 22, 2013.
