Successful Refloating of Bulk Carrier Kemet Star
On March 20 at 3 p.m., the bulk carrier 'Kemet Star' was successfully refloated and towed to safety by the tugs 'Kurtarma 3' and 'Türkeli'. After being secured in a designated safe area, the vessel underwent a thorough survey prior to resuming its journey. Divers conducted an underwater inspection alongside an attending class surveyor to assess the condition of the ship. A comprehensive damage survey followed, led by the appointed surveyor panel. Following these evaluations, the 'Kemet Star' received permission for a single voyage to Derince. During its passage through the Canakkale Strait, the coastal safety tug 'Türkeli 1' provided essential escort services to ensure the safety of both the vessel and Strait traffic. Once the discharge operations are complete, a more extensive technical inspection will be performed by representatives from the classification society and flag state authority. The vessel successfully anchored at the Izmit Kocaeli Anchorage on March 26 at 11 p.m., positioned at 40° 44.30' N 029° 54.61' E. The arrival at Derince is anticipated for March 27.
