The vessel 'Kholmogory' has embarked on its sea trials from the port of Scheveningen on April 11, marking a significant step after recent engine repairs. This follows a troubling incident on February 22, 2017, when the ship experienced an engine failure, causing it to drift in position 50° 37.46' N, 00° 17' E. After being towed to safety, 'Kholmogory' arrived at Rotterdam on February 25. The ship then set sail from Rotterdam at 10:30 a.m. on April 11 and made its way back to Scheveningen, arriving at 4 p.m. the same day. On March 17, 2011, at 20:50 local time, the merchant vessel Kholmogory, with IMO number 9109081, encountered a critical failure in its variable pitch propeller mechanism. This incident occurred at coordinates 59°56'N 025°44'E, within the safety zone established by the Finland Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC). The vessel was traveling from St. Petersburg, Russia, to Norrköping, Sweden, when the malfunction happened. In response, an icebreaker and tug from Finland were deployed to assist and facilitate the towage of Kholmogory to a Swedish port. The Russian icebreaker Kapitan Lus successfully towed the disabled vessel from the ice into open water, with the towage operation concluding at 02:35 on March 19. During this period, Kholmogory was drifting, awaiting further support from the Finnish tug.
