On July 29, 2019, the ferry 'Knipan' encountered a significant mishap in the early morning at the ferry berth in Långnäs. A malfunction in its bow thruster caused the vessel to allide with the quay, resulting in damage to one vehicle and leaving one individual injured. Following this incident, all sailings for the day were suspended, prompting the ferry 'Skiftet' to step in and provide additional services. 'Skiftet' departed from Kökar at 9:10 p.m., making stops at Husö at 10 p.m., Sottunga at 10:30 p.m., and finally arriving in Långnäs by 11:15 p.m. The ferry then set off from Långnäs at 11:20 p.m., continuing the journey via Överö at 11:55 p.m., Sottunga at 12:30 a.m., and reaching Kökar by 01:40 a.m. on July 30. After necessary repairs, the 'Knipan' resumed its operations on July 30 at 12:30 p.m. along the southern line, with the exception of routes to Överö, Husö, and Kyrkogårdsö. Åland traffic took prompt action to contact passengers affected by the incident.
