Sovcomflot's SCF Melampus Embarks on Journey to Nigeria
The LNG carrier SCF Melampus, a proud member of the Sovcomflot (SCF Group) fleet since January 2015, has successfully passed a stringent inspection conducted by chartering partner Shell. This vessel has set its course towards Bonny Island, Nigeria, where the Nigeria LNG plant, operated by a consortium comprising Shell, Total, Eni, and NNPC, is located, according to a statement from SCF's press center. On its inaugural cargo voyage, SCF Melampus is expected to make a stop at one of the ports in Southeast Asia. Notably, SCF Melampus is the third vessel in a series of cutting-edge tankers constructed through a collaboration between Sovcomflot and the renowned shipyard STX Offshore & Shipbuilding. The ship's naming ceremony took place on December 16, 2014, marking a significant milestone in the fleet's expansion.
Sovcomflot Secures $319 Million Financing for New Ice-Class LNG Carriers
On December 8, OAO Sovcomflot, part of the SCF Group, made a significant announcement regarding its financing strategies aimed at expanding its LNG carrier fleet. The company has successfully secured a credit facility amounting to USD $319 million, set for a duration of ten years. This capital infusion is earmarked for the construction of two state-of-the-art ice-class LNG carriers currently under development at STX Shipbuilding. The vessels, named SCF Melampus and SCF Mitre, are scheduled for delivery in December 2014 and April 2015, respectively. Upon completion, both carriers will enter long-term contracts with the esteemed Shell Group, enhancing Sovcomflot's capacity to deliver liquefied natural gas to global markets.
