The first case involved two Italian ships that made stops at the Port of Marseille during the winter of 2022, facing a combined fine of €165,000. One of these vessels, the 'Jolly Vanadio', now known as 'Al Samha', was reported to have anchored near the Côte Bleue and discharged wash water into the sea for an alarming six hours. The other vessel, 'Jolly Palladio', currently operating as 'Al Bateen', was found emitting sulfur emissions that significantly exceeded allowable levels. The second case involved the bulk carrier 'SM Roberts Banks', registered in the Marshall Islands and operated by a Korean company. This vessel was penalized with a €120,000 fine for discharging untreated polluted water while off the coast of Fos in the fall of 2023. The most egregious case involved the tanker 'Kriti King', registered in Liberia and operated by a Greek firm. This vessel was charged with three separate violations while at anchor in Fos in February 2024, leading to a hefty €180,000 fine after the use of an open-loop scrubber resulted in the discharge of 72 million liters of contaminated seawater.

On January 19, 2024, the 'Kriti King' was imposed a fine of €100,000 by the public prosecutor in Marseille, allowing the vessel to depart from Fos-sur-Mer. This action was necessary due to the tanker operating its scrubber in restricted waters and utilizing engine fuel with sulfur content exceeding legal limits. The ship had previously been detained in port on February 15, 2024. The captain is set to face trial in December in Marseille for allegedly willfully flouting regulations designed to curb maritime pollution. Notably, the tanker made a prior visit to Fos-sur-Mer at the end of 2023, during which it also failed to adhere to the prohibition on scrubber use within 3 nautical miles and in the port area.

On March 30, 2022, around noon, the Port Authority of Neapoli Vion received an urgent distress call concerning a 29-year-old crew member aboard the 'Kriti King'. The vessel, navigating the Laconic Gulf, required immediate medical assistance for the affected individual. Responding swiftly, the rescue vessel 'Machi' arrived at the scene promptly. The crew member was safely disembarked and transported back to the port of Neapolis Vion. Following the successful evacuation, he was subsequently taken to the General Hospital of Laconia, specifically the Molaon Nursing Unit, for critical medical care.
