Neste, the Finnish oil giant, has announced the sale of its innovative crude oil vessel, the Tempera, as part of its strategic move to exit the shipping sector. This remarkable 106,000 dwt Aframax tanker is notable for being the first to adopt the pioneering double acting tanker (DAT) design, a concept engineered by Aker Arctic. This design allows the vessel to navigate efficiently in open waters while seamlessly transitioning to reverse for ice navigation. The Tempera, alongside her sister ship, Mastera, has primarily serviced routes between a Russian oil terminal in Primorsk and Neste Oil refineries located in Porvoo and Naantali. The transfer of ownership to Perenco, a prominent player in the oil and gas industry, is set to occur in the summer of 2016, marking a significant milestone in maritime operations.
