Lady-Amalia Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On November 5, 2018, at 6 p.m., the cargo vessel 'Lady Amalia' encountered engine troubles while navigating the English Channel, approximately 25 nautical miles south of Portland and near Weymouth. The ship, which was on a voyage from Belfast to Erith carrying a substantial load of 3,450 tonnes of stones, faced a critical issue with its starboard turbo charger at coordinates 050 09 31.1 N, 002 35 39.0 W. With a crew of six onboard, the team diligently attempted to resolve the turbo malfunction; however, their efforts proved insufficient. Consequently, a decision was made to secure a tow for safe passage to Cherbourg. The French Search and Rescue tug 'Abeille Liberté' was summoned for assistance and successfully established a tow by 3:30 p.m. The journey to Cherbourg concluded at 11:25 p.m., where the 'Lady Amalia' underwent necessary repairs. Following the completion of repairs, the vessel departed Cherbourg on November 10 at 10:15 p.m. and made its way to Erith, where it arrived at 1:10 p.m. on November 12.
