On January 28, 2018, the cargo vessel 'Lady Ann-Lynn' encountered a significant engine failure while navigating the English Canal, east of Dungeness. The freighter, which had departed from Brake on January 26, was transported with 2,160 tonnes of wood pulp along with 38.5 cubic litres of gas oil and 2.8 cubic litres of lube oil. The incident was triggered by a lube fuel leak in the engine room at the coordinates 50°54'47.4"N and 1°08'35.2"E, approximately 7.3 nautical miles from Dungeness at 5:22 p.m. During its passage through the busy Dover Traffic Separation Scheme, the 'Lady Ann-Lynn' experienced the mechanical distress. To provide immediate assistance, the tugboat 'Multratug 20' (IMO: 9572006) was dispatched from Rotterdam that same evening. After successful coordination, the freighter was taken in tow around noon on January 29. Ultimately, the vessel reached Flushing and safely docked at 4:30 a.m. on January 30. Following repairs and inspection, the 'Lady Ann-Lynn' resumed its journey on February 9, setting sail toward Greenock, with an estimated time of arrival on February 13.
