On the evening of May 8, 2015, the vessel 'Bremer Martha,' while navigating from Cagliari to Liepaja, experienced a critical engine failure as it sailed through the Kiel Canal. This unfortunate event occurred in the eastern stretch of the canal, where the ship collided with the northern embankment near Breiholz. During the incident, 'Bremer Martha' became lodged between two dolphins after making contact with the Antigua-flagged cargo ship 'Pollux.'
