Lady Carina Grounds in Willemstad, Halting Port Access
On August 22, 2013, the cargo ship 'Lady Carina' encountered an unfortunate incident while navigating into the port of Willemstad, Curaçao. The vessel ran aground on a sand patch at the Punda location, exacerbated by challenging currents that caused it to turn off course. This grounding effectively blocked the port's entrance, impeding maritime traffic. Efforts to dislodge the 'Lady Carina' began promptly as two KTK pilot boats were deployed to push the stranded vessel back into navigable waters. Subsequently, a KTK tug was utilized to tow the ship safely into port. Fortunately, no damage was reported as a result of the grounding. The following day, August 23, the 'Lady Carina' resumed its journey, making a stop at Curaçao before continuing on to La Guaira, where it docked on August 24.
