On January 15, 2020, the tanker 'Lagertha', cruising at 12 knots and en route from Mindelo, encountered a pirate attack while positioned 60 miles off the Nigerian coastline in the Gulf of Guinea. Fortunately, the vessel was equipped with eight armed guards from the Nigerian Navy. When the pirates opened fire, the guards responded effectively, forcing the assailants to retreat. After the unsuccessful attack, the 'Lagertha' continued on her journey and successfully docked at the Lagos port at 8:50 PM. On April 22, 2014, at 4 a.m., the tanker 'Halit Bey', which was in the process of loading urea, encountered difficulties and ran aground on the St. Lawrence River near Grondines, approximately 60 kilometers southwest of Quebec City. The situation was promptly addressed, and by 2:30 p.m. the same day, with the assistance of two tugboats and the rising tide, the vessel was successfully refloated. Fortunately, there were no reported damages or oil spills resulting from the incident. As of the morning of April 26, the 'Halit Bey' was securely moored in Valleyfield for a thorough inspection by Transport Canada.
