On May 27, 2024, at approximately 2 p.m., the vessel 'Aydogan', which was navigating from Gebze (Kocaeli) towards Suez, encountered a rudder malfunction while passing through the Dardanelles Strait near Gallipoli. Thanks to the efficient coordination provided by the Çanakkale VTS Center, the ship safely docked at Karanlık Liman Anchorage. The tugboat 'Kurtarma 4' (IMO: 9335941) and a pilot were deployed to assist with the mooring process. After resolving the issue, 'Aydogan' resumed its journey at 5:45 p.m., and it is currently expected to arrive at its destination by May 30. On July 16, 2021, at approximately 04:30 a.m., the cargo vessel Carla Liv encountered trouble as it was making its way from Venice to Trieste, running aground in the process. After several hours of concerted efforts, the ship was successfully refloated by 1 p.m. with the help of tugboats, allowing it to continue its journey back towards Venice. The circumstances surrounding the grounding remain under investigation, with no clear cause identified at this time.

Reunion, July 4 – A maritime mishap occurred on July 1 when the barge, designated to receive cargo from the fully cellular containership Wehr Schulau (IMO: 9189736), capsized while discharging containers in Moroni, Comoros. Weighing in at 16,177 GT and constructed in 1999, the vessel was transferring goods when the incident took place. Tragically, seven containers filled with cement have now sunk and are resting on the seabed of the anchorage, prompting recovery efforts and inquiries into the cause of the accident.
