On February 18, 2017, a significant maritime incident occurred in the Campos Basin off the coast of Brazil, involving Petrobras' floating production, storage, and offloading unit (FPSO) 'P 35' and the supply ship 'Larus'. The collision took place during the routine operation of supplying water to the FPSO. While the accident resulted in damage to one of the lifeboats aboard the 'Larus', thankfully, there were no reported injuries to crew members aboard either vessel. Production activities on the 'P 35' remained unaffected following the incident. In response to the collision, a support vessel was positioned alongside the FPSO to provide assistance. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the collision, and divers have been dispatched to conduct an inspection of the FPSO's hull to assess any potential underwater damage.

In a significant milestone for the maritime sector, Wilson Sons Ultratug Offshore, a collaboration between Wilson Sons and Chile's Ultramar, has officially received the Damen PSV 5000 at their Guaruja shipyard in Brazil. This marks the first delivery out of a two-vessel agreement, with the second vessel anticipated to be delivered later in 2016. Rutger Dolk, Damen Sales Manager for the Americas, highlighted the extensive engineering collaboration on this project, stating, "For this vessel and the one still under construction, we provided the full engineering package along with key materials." He emphasized that the engineering package was designed to leverage local equipment and materials to support the shipyard's operations. Damen is also set to assist during the commissioning phase of both vessels. The Damen PSV 5000, officially named Larus, measures 85.25 meters in length and boasts a beam of 19 meters. Designed for efficiency, it features a generous 920m2 deck area equipped with a travelling gantry crane. This innovative design facilitates optimal storage and movement of deck cargo, catering to a variety of marine service tasks.
