Legacy Vessel Reviews and Specifications

On November 9, 2011, the vessel 'Legacy' encountered a maritime emergency when it ran aground on a reef in Cherokee Sound, situated near Lynyard Cay, Abaco. The incident occurred after a powerful wave struck the ship, forcing it onto the rocky surface of the reef. As the 'Legacy' began taking on water, the crew swiftly initiated a distress signal for help. Fortunately, all 18 individuals aboard were rescued by personnel from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association, and the U.S. Navy. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries among the crew. The fate of the 'Legacy' remains uncertain, as it is yet to be determined whether the ship can be salvaged or if it has been irreparably damaged on the reef. Prior to the accident, the 'Legacy' was engaged in regularly towing a barge laden with supplies from Nassau to Abaco.
