American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier Launches M/V Liberty in Charleston
On June 2, the American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier (ARC), headquartered in New Jersey, celebrated the christening of their latest vessel, M/V Liberty, a 2006-built pure car and truck carrier (PCTC). This impressive vessel has a capacity of 6,350 car equivalent units (CEU) and officially joined ARC's fleet earlier this year. M/V Liberty measures 200 meters in length and 32.3 meters in width, making it well-suited for transporting tracked vehicles, helicopters, trucks, and various military and heavy project cargoes. The vessel will actively participate in two significant maritime initiatives: the Maritime Security Program (MSP) and the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement (VISA). Previously known as Topeka, M/V Liberty underwent re-flagging to enter the American registry on January 31, with the procedure supervised by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) at the Port of Bremerhaven, Germany. This transition marks a noteworthy addition to ARC’s operational capabilities and reinforces their commitment to supporting U.S. military and logistical operations.
